Turning Tragedy Into Blessing"We just knew something was wrong with our son," Faith Kamm says. "And I know if Frank wouldn't have been a physician, Steven would not have lived [as long]." What they recognized turned out to be juvenile diabetes, a disease few children his age of 11 months survived, and fewer parents understood the challenges of this disease. Steven Kamm, shown here performing a wedding, planned to work in the ministry after seminary. Frank and Faith are also incredible people. After serving as a family practice physician in the town of Blue Hill, Nebraska, for over 32 years, Frank decided to be a traveling doctor. He filled in for physicians from Alaska to Maine and served at 42 locations in Nebraska alone. Many locations were on reservations and served the underserved, making a difference in the lives of so many. These two could not have more appropriate names. Both have had to deal with frank and difficult situations, but they are also a couple with deep, unwavering faith. They demonstrate how establishing an endowed fund allows a tragedy to be turned into a blessing for others. |
